Painted Cats Rule My Home & Studio
Eager to become Painted Cats, all sorts visit and inhabit my studio. As a well-known stop on a Whimsical Path, cats come to sit for portraits, tell stories, and eat the snacks. With an unlimited imagination, a load of tools for art making, and the encouragement of dozens of cats, painting cats is a great job. I have welcomed painted cats in watercolor, imagined and excavated them for the Lost Cave Paintings of Saint Paul, found them in painted stained glass, and for cut out Flying Cats, slathered heavy paper with acrylic mediums including Glass Bead Gel and Self-Leveling Clear Gel that I discovered in a Golden Brand workshop presented by Bonnie Cutts, a gifted teacher and acrylic painter. Who knew that someone had decided to put tiny glass beads into acrylic medium to make things shiny?
